And it's a Chrysler Imperial out of all things.
This was the transmission selector in 1956. Pretty neat!
And even in WAGON FORM

I always liked the proportions on these. Also, the front seats were just like sofas from the era.

I'm partial to the '72, myself. But the '74-75s that you've shown are quite pretty. I like them, too. Also, it's not a "Chrysler Imperial", it's an "Imperial LeBaron". Imperial was its own make from 1955-75.
After Chrysler sold only 7,730 '75 Imperials, they rebranded the car as the Chrysler New Yorker Brougham for 1976, lopped about $3k off the MSRP (without taking much equipment out), and sales jumped about 500%.
Also, the wagon you showed is a modified Chrysler Town & Country with an Imperial or New Yorker Brougham nose stuck on. The Imperial and subsequent New Yorker Brougham never had companion wagon models. All 1974-77 T&C's came with the Newport front end.

I've always had a soft spot for these 70s land yachts

Me too. I was the second owner of this one in the late '80s; last I heard it was with a collector in Apple Valley.

But gas was 35-50 cents a gallon then.
